Thanks for your interest in organic farming! Over the past two years MOSES has provided thousands of farmers with free informational packets and currently fields over 100 calls a month on our Farmer Transition Hotline. With the help of our generous donors and sponsors, we offer this informational packet to help you explore the potential of organic production on your farm.

With retail sales of organic foods on the rise, this is a time of tremendous opportunity for farmers! Since 1990, organic food sales have grown at 20% per year. In order to keep pace with consumer demand, the domestic production of organic food needs to grow. In particular, there is a need for more farmers raising organic dairy, livestock, and produce. It is also necessary to significantly increase the production of organic livestock feed. This is where you come in! Check out the info below to learn how you can make the transition to
organic farming.

Download materials from the informational packet free of charge using the links below, or fill out an online form to have a hardcopy of the materials sent to you. The materials are free, but we charge $5 to cover shipping and handling costs.

The Organic Farmer Information Packet includes:

  1. A copy of the Upper Midwest Organic Resource Directory, a reference handbook of organic resources including Resource Groups, Certification Agencies, Suppliers, and Buyers of organic products.

  2. A MOSES brochure, a short guide to current MOSES projects.

  3. The New Farm brochure, short description of Rodale Institute's New Farm program. Learn more at www.rodaleinstitute.org/new_farm,

  4. A Guide to ATTRA's (Appropriate Technology Transfer for Rural Areas) Organic Publications. Learn more at www.attra.org.

  5. The Guidebook for Organic Certification, Answers to Common Questions, (26 pg.)
