Every year the MOSES staff relies on volunteers to help the conference run smoothly. In exchange for work hours, volunteers are eligible for reduced conference registration fees.
Application deadline: February 1st, 2008
"Where else can you do important work, support good farmers no matter if you are one or not, feel wholly appreciated, eat well, keep warm in February, and get lots and lots of hugs? Oh, and be able to see and hear many of the wonders of this premier conference for nearly nothing? This is feel-good work at its best - even when I can financially afford to attend, I choose to be a part of it as a volunteer: it's that fantastic."
~ Caroline, a long-time conference volunteer |
Our volunteer policy is as follows:
- Volunteer positions are limited and scheduled by order they are received.
- Volunteers are eligible for reduced registration fees.
- Volunteers must be available throughout the day during which they’re scheduled.
- Separate applications are required for OU and Conference volunteers.
- Full volunteers will be scheduled to work during two days.
- One-day conference volunteers will be scheduled to work during the day they wish to attend.
- Organic University volunteers will be scheduled to work on Wednesday, February 20.
- Walk-in volunteers are not accepted - you must apply to volunteer in advance.
- Please keep in mind, if you want to volunteer for BOTH the Organic University and the Conference, you are asking to be scheduled for 22 hours of volunteering over the course of 3 days. You MUST be available all day on Wednesday, February 20th, and willing to work during the days on Friday and Saturday. It is not possible to schedule that many hours without complete flexibility from you.
Areas where volunteers are needed include:
- Pre-conference set-up: registration area, posting directional signs, moving boxes within the facility, exhibit hall set-up, book sales, and copying.
- Dining hall and Meal assistants: Tasks include meal tickets, bussing tables and wrapping silverware.
- Registration (if you consider yourself shy, let us know! We won’t schedule you in registration – this job requires lots of interaction with the public!) This is where everyone attending the conference checks in.
- Book Sales and Free resource area
- Exhibit Hall Set up and Take Down
- Research Symposium assistants
- Breakdown and clean-up on Saturday, February 23
Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering.
